Enrollment Fee
if it necessary, international students pay an enrollment fee of 200 € for the evaluation of their higher education entrance qualification by the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts.
Compensation
Typically, dual students are paid a monthly salary by their partner company of approx. 325–500 € per month, depending on the programm*** and the company.
***Please note this does not apply to the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy programmes in semesters 1–6!
Living Costs in Germany
Living costs in Germany are relatively low compared to those in other European countries, although there are strong regional variations. In general, students require approximately 1.000 € per month to cover living expenses like rent, food, clothing and transportation. Students often receive discounts at events and cultural venues (e.g. cinema, museum, concerts, swimming pools etc.), when they show their student ID.
Blocked Account
A Sperrkonto (blocked account) is a special German bank account mandatory for many visa applicants—such as students, language learners, and job seekers. It proves you can financially support yourself. You must deposit a full year's living costs upfront; authorities restrict withdrawals to a fixed monthly amount (currently €992) once you arrive.
How the Sperrkonto Works

You deposit the full sum before your visa appointment. The provider then issues a blocking confirmation certificate (Sperrbescheinigung) to submit to the German embassy as proof of funds.

You cannot withdraw this money all at once. Once you arrive in Germany, open a local current account, and register your address, the Sperrkonto will release a fixed monthly allowance (e.g., €992/month) to cover rent and groceries.
Immigration and Visa Benefits as a Dual Student.

By proving your monthly income through your dual contract, the embassy will not require you to freeze the mandatory €11,904 required for a regular student visa (or will only ask you to cover a small difference if your salary is low).
